    Browning Buckmark MFG Date?

A friend just bought her first gun. It's a nice Browning Buckmark SN 655NY110XX. Can anyone tell me the year of manufacture?

    Thanks.

I think it's 1992. Great pistols, she will love it.

    Thanks.
She fired it for the first time today. I was not there, but she said she loved it.

Cool link. I've got one with # 655NZ.... that I bought new back in March of 1992. This pistol has brought more shooting enjoyment than anything else I've ever owned. I think I've worn the rifling down on my barrel, or else it's totally leaded over. I don't know for sure what I'm looking at, but you can barely see the rifling grooves. I'd sure like to know exactly how many bricks of ammo have been through it to date? Must be well past 50K rounds.

Had to replace the firing pin for the first time this year, and had a separate little quirk that needed to be worked through pretty much from the get go. That top plate (above the bolt) had a tenancy to rattle loose on me. In addition to the locking washer, I've found that a rubber o-ring used in tandem with the supplied lock washer will hold those screws securely.

    I love my Buckmark!!

The rifling isn't too distinct at the best of times, probably leaded. Get a good lead-disolving barrel cleaner and give it a go.
