I think that the REAL problem here is that now we have more CCWs on the streets than before.

Bearing in mind that FBI statistics clearly show our streets to be safer.

Simply put, most Democrats juat aren't going to get the mugging they need to

    become Republicans...

Just curious, how many of you actually hang out in "the gungeon"?

There are quite a few regular posters over there that post here. One who is a mod over at "the site that can not be named" and a couple of very intelligent and articulate gunrights supporters that routinely make hash out of the antis that post there.

They even ran scoldilocks (Iverglass) off

I just signed up. There is quite a bit of anti gun sentiment. However, I truly see the ant gun stance of the democrats fading into the shadows. I really feel like this is a good time for a lot of us to go there and rock their boat. I havent had any trouble getting some back up when fighting emotions with facts. The antis over there(all the antis for that matter) have trouble bringing their citations and proveable facts to the fight. It is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Even with the recent shooting in AZ I just dont see the antis gaining any ground. There has been plenty of ammo to fuel them with lately as well. I honestly feel like we are going to see the end of the anti gun movement(at least the bigger movement of the last 30 yrs) in the near future.

Both parties are multi-dimensional -- they have members that have a hash of differing interests on some issues.

The passing of Kennedy, and the aging of Schumer and Feinstein gives the RKBA folks hope that some new D party leadership may have a clearer view of the second amendment. To be truly safe we need powerful friends in both parties.

This true more now than ever paul. I am having a hunch that Obamas suggestion that we reach across the aisle is hinting at helping them pass some anti gun legislation. I could be wrong , but , there is a lot of buzz right now saying the anti gun speech is right around the corner.

I am having a hunch that Obamas suggestion that we reach across the aisle is hinting at
some practical amendments to the health care bill. A lot of people don't like several parts of it, and I think he is trying to get some Republicans to back off "repeal the whole thing" and instead change some of the more distasteful pieces of it (1099s, mandates, etc.)

Guns for the Democrats are more of a special interest of a few, the way that certain aspects of social issues (e.g. anti-gay, pro-"family" issues) are for the Republicans. Plenty of Democrats are mildly pro-RKBA and plenty more don't care all that much. However, decades of Kennedy, Schumer, Feinstein types out front tend to influence image.

The first problem is trying to be a "libertarian" and supporting guns.

Liberals and guns don't mix as a rule. Generally the more conservative party is the one that is most protective of gun rights, but that is not always the case. If voting liberal is your way, why even bother with guns, as it works against gun ownership in the long run.

Liberals view things in a "collective" mindset and believe in big government. "Don't worry, the Government will protect you." Conservatives tend to view things in a more practical manner, "We can't protect you, and you will have to protect yourself."

All liberals do is work against self suffiency.

Biker RN, I see it differently -- classic "liberalism" is much akin to "libertarianism" as it is primarily interested in individual freedoms.

Classic conservatism of the 18th and 19th century was primarily concerned with stability of power and property rights

Both Roosevelts caused a twist in the public view of those terms, as opposition to corporate power began to be combined with collectivist government views, and "liberal" became a bad political word to the true philosophical descendants of Jefferson and Jackson.

There is that great "feeling" of comfort as one is being led to slaughter.

Personally I try to not associate with democrats, liberals, homosexuals, and bible thumpers any more than I have to.
