    Activism works!

Just announced that President Bush has commuted the prison sentences of Campanos and Ramos, the two former border guards wrongly convicted for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler.

He commuted the sentences. He didn't pardon them, so they are still felons in the eyes of the law. No more 2nd Amendment rights for them.

This is great. I had just sent Pres. Bush a final e-mail on this over the weekend.

BTW - This was closed on THR.org as being "non-gun-related"

Were they not in jail for questions about how they used their GUNS (and how they picked up their empty shells ejected from their guns - 30-30's I seem to remember) defending our border from smugglers?

At least they are out of prison.

THANK YOU POPS! YOU are right and Bush still screwed up this deal. The pea brain puppet's record speaks for himself. Control freak. Ugh. I loathe Bush as much as Clinton, Reno, LBJ and the rest of the ANTI GUN and ANTI FREEDOM NWO globalists and socialists.

I have been listening to alternative and patriot radio today... he is making them stay in JAIL for 2 MORE MONTHS! Why doesn't he LET THEM OUT OF JAIL ASAP as in tonight or before the new PRESIDENT gets into office - sworn in on TUESDAY?! I have many ideas on WHY but I will not put them here.

THOSE men should have NEVER been put behind bars.

They should have been given MEDALS and letters of commendation.

ILLEGAL ALIENS = CRIMINALS. NO AMNESTY. THE BAD GUY WAS A DRUG RUNNER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! MORE to say but this would get closed on drug running and the SYSTEM! (Think CIA connections, drug laws and tons more now.) FOLLOW THE MONEY!

We have inmates in charge of the asylum in the District of Criminals. Most of those politicians should be IN JAIL for VARIOUS REASONS!!!

WHEN the other INMATES find out about these guys getting OUT - most likely it will be H for them for the next 2 months - if they SURVIVE.

I PRAY THAT THESE MEN SURVIVE AND SOMEONE TOTALLY CLEARS THEM.

    Catherine:

You seem to be holding back. Please, let us know how you really feel.

At least they will be getting out, belatedly.

2 theories on the commutation vs pardon on another gun forum - 1. Bush is friends with the prosecutor via the "good old boy network" and didnt want to make him look like the slime he is, or 2. to accept a pardon one must admit guilt and thus end all legal options for clearing their good name. Draw your own conclusions...I have no idea.

I did not realize it was 2 more months. This whole thing just makes me sick. You are right on about this Catherine. It's this kind of cr** that has killed the Republican party.

all this right on, I'm from Arizona so we see alot of border patrolman at work, and that is what those guys were doing (their job) and they get thrown in jair and they did not even kill the guy, (it probably would not have caused any trouble at all if they had shot and killed the guy, nothing more probably would have been said) its just dicusseding that something like this is even in court let alone them be sentenced to 10+ years

and your right why did Bush not clear them?

On the why no pardon issue: in another group I frequent, I was told that clemency (rather than pardon) was what they wanted. Specifically, they had appeals still going through the works and winning the appeals would be more of an an exoneration than a pardon will be.

I have not, however, been able to confirm that anywhere.
