We just bought a home in Las Vegas, which is a bout a 4 hour drive from our current home. Does anyone have experience moving a large gun safe. I'm not sure whether to try to move the safe or buy a new one in LV. The las time I moved (across town) it cost as much to move the safe as the rest of the house. Any thoughts a re appreciated.
Talk to a company with experience in moving pianos. They LOVE moving safes because they have the equipment but it's WAY less tricky than moving a piano.

This a dolly that works well, you need two, one on each side. I found them at a local rental place.

I used to work for an FFL that sold and delivered safes. We had a "tiny tank" tracked dolly. You would bolt or strap the safe to the tracked wonder, and use the remote to "drive" it anywhere, including down stairs, etc.
Call a safe company that delivers. They will probably have a tracked wonder if they are worth their salt.

Safe companies will charge more than most other types of movers, but you're getting somebody with the proper experience, insurance, and integrity.
I have a company in the Vegas area that I've used before. I think he charges around $150 an hour, shop to shop. You may want to look at selling your safe, then buying a new one when you get to where you're going.
Otherwise, you could pay a company to come out and put it on your moving truck.
What kind of large safe?
