Might be this guy, Bob Munden. In this video he seems to draw and get off two shots and hit in 0.02 seconds.

You are on target,Mello.Bob was supposed to be a choice.Might be this guy, Bob Munden. In this video he seems to draw and get off two shots and hit in 0.02 seconds.
For some reason, perhaps Jim Beam,he was left out!
I've asked a Mod to add the great Bob to the choices!
I've seen Jerry Miculek do the impossible in person. Munden also has to be considered.
As the Munden video linked indicates, the "old west" gunfight was a different animal than the movie gunfight. Coolest head and most willing to kill won real gunfights, and if possible, they were never fair.
So, comparing Sammy Davis Jr., who could have easily been technically faster, to Wild Bill, who was provenly cool headed enough to kill under fire, is kind of tough. You kind of got two eras and puropses mixed together.
I'd have to go with Bob Munden after everything I've seen and heard, though many, especially in IPSC, like Jethro Dionisio, Jerry Barnhart, Rob Leatham, and revolver wonder Jerry Miculek, would definitely give him a go.

In a demonstration I was shot three times by Bill Jordan. The third time I had the hammer back and my finger on the trigger. He drew and shot me before I could pull the trigger. A little embarrassing especially in front of friends and sports writers but he was fast. (and he had a psychological advantage)
I just don't understand, when I left Viet Nam, we were winning.
KC Eusebio just won the world Steel Challange match in late 2008, setting a new world record, which is to say, he beat his own previous world record. Nobody's faster than KC.
KC is the fastest now. Bob Munden would be the guy who was fastest for a VERY long period of time so is worth mentioning on that basis alone.
Jelly Brice was likely the best point-shoot-technique combat shooter of all time, period, end of discussion. Damn near inhuman.
Miculek is the fastest shot-to-shot (doing accurate fire) once he's drawn, and likely the best that ever was.
I never saw anybody outdraw Mr.Dillion, and I watched every episode!![]()
Freedom ain't free...........
I have to go with Bob Munden. He's using a trick holster but a SAA revolver. KC, OTOH, is using both a trick holster and a tricked out
semi-auto.
As to Hickok, he did a lot of back-shooting and what goes around finally came around.
Nobody's faster than KC
better guess again .........after u read this.........

I'll also say Bob Munden. Ever watch him shoot 3 shots that sounds like one with a SS revolver? That's fast.
I think Jelly Bryce survived - triumphed - in more stand up gunfights than any other lawman or devotee. Jim Cirillo did a lot of arrests on armed robbers, but he didn't normally 'draw'; he initiated gun in hand. (If we're choosing sides for a gunfight, he's still on my side.)
As for the trick shooters, who know? All the rules are different, so every one is possibly fastest, depending on definition.
My opinion; guaranteed worth twice what you paid for it.

I was thinking Bob Munden, but then I figured I was a greater feat to be fast when others were interested in putting a hole in you.
I think Jelly Brice was the fastest in that area although Bill Jordan, Jim Cirillo and Charles Askins all survived a large number of real gun fights.
The ones shooting for show kind of pales in comparison, in my mind at least.

wep45, I got to give it to you, that guy was amazing. I guess I think differently, and perhaps less, of the ultra-fast draw/trick shots and ability to do fantastic feats like dropping the coin, etc. I shouldn't, as what those guys did was different, with different firearms. Nevertheless, what really makes a "the fastest shooter" to me is the ability to draw and take several targets at various distances...just like the steel challange represents. I'm not even a serious Steel Challange shooter but I think it's the best test for pure speed. That said, I think nobody beats KC and I think that's a good thing. Not only is KC shooting in competitions for the Army, he helps to train our country's finest soilders to, when necessary, shoot quickly and accuratley. I admit a little local pride; KC learned to shoot at my local club.
Thanks to Amish Bill the great Bob Munden is included in the poll and prior 'other' votes for him will be duly noted.
Thank you so much,Amish Bill.![]()
Great link,wep45.better guess again .........after u read this.........

That's why I voted for Mr.Bryce.This man to me is the Babe Ruth,Michael Jordan,Joe Louis and Jimmy Brown of gunfighter's.
Nothing artificial,no hype just plain born talent to use a gun.And a real lawman.Life and death on the line every day.
A man who comes along once(maybe)in a century.
Rest in peace D.A.Bryce.You did your job better than anyone before or since. We may never see your like again.
Oklahoma should be very proud.
Bryce may be what legends are made of but not one I am thinking is or was the fastest gun!
The one that is now and has been for some time is "Bob Munden"...
If Bryce would be around now they would have him in Jail for destroying peoples property
Regards![]()
The thing with this poll is my own mental standpoint of where speed counts.
Competition against the clock with advance warning, prep, and fancy equipment is one thing but someone who did the things Jelly Bryce did, without fancy equipment and against people who wanted to KILL him is another kettle of fish entirely.
I vote for Delf "Jelly" Bryce.

According to Wikipedia, Ed McGivern's Guinness world record for "The greatest rapid-fire feat" (set in August 20, 1932 at the Lead Clube Range, South Dakota) still stands. This feat consisted of "firing two times from 15 feet five shots which could be covered by a silver half-dollar piece in 45/100's of a second". Miculek's time was .57 seconds.
I do not know it this is true or current.
According to Munden's site, his time for five separate shots is 1.06 seconds.
Bob says that Miculek is the fastest he's ever seen with a DA revolver, but that the term "fastest gun" usually applied to the time for one shot in "Western" fast draw with a single action.
To quote the original post,
I take that to mean hand grasps gun, gun pulled out of holster, gun fired (one shot).Who Was(Is)the Fastest Person All Time on the Draw?
Who could clear leather the fastest?

They certainly are extremely fast between rounds but I've never seen them clear leather faster than Bob Munden and some of the other quick draw artists.Miculek

When I read about him in days of old I figured the 6 shot S&W would get the job done, so I practiced a lot! Never was a match for "Ed" But I got real good!
But Bob be the fastest now

You are correct hksw.I should have clarified the question better. To quote the original post,
Quote:
Who Was(Is)the Fastest Person All Time on the Draw?
Who could clear leather the fastest?
I take that to mean hand grasps gun, gun pulled out of holster, gun fired (one shot).
But you are right on the money. That's why I jokingly put in Matt Dillon and Paladin because that is the concept I was thinking of while phrasing the poll question.
One pull, one shot.Emphasis "on the draw".
Re-reading the question, I think the answer is Munden.
I'm surprised that Thell Reed wasn't on the list.
Here's a interesting article on fast shooting by Elmer Keith.
http://www.gunsandammomag.com/cs/Sat...y_C/Thell+Reed
What's not clear to me is what's being measured. I'd be very surprised if Munden's time of .02 Sec. is measured from the start of a signal or "draw!" command--I don't think human reaction time is that fast.
I read recently that Richard Boone was rather slow.
