    Not a dream collection, but...

Alright, we have a "dream collection" thread going, so let's get real.

I realize that many people shoot/own firearms for various reasons. For me, thus far, it's been mostly range time (sport), with the thought of HD in the back of my mind. I never hunted, not that I would have a problem to, but never really considered it.
I enjoy target shooting, dueling trees, long range target, tactical target, plinking. To that purpose I own a few different pieces, each designed to do a certain thing or to do well in a certain situation. IMHO, there is no single all around firearm, as there are countless situations. I would not want to walk through the woods with a Glock, nor would I go the a mall with a lever gun. And nope, I won't trap shoot with a 18" barrel either.

Anyway, over the past couple of years I've been trading pieces, getting rid of some, buying others. I tried streamlining my calibers too, so I don't have to have too many damn ammo cans. So, here is what I have now, and I think it suits my current needs. Could I use more, better, etc? Yes, but I am happy with what I currently have.

So, what do you guys have and why?

Next piece will probably be a .308 of some sort.

Blackpowder, eh? Now, that's one I had never considered. Maybe I should.

Very nice collection! Thanks for sharing.

I have sold and given away many of MY firearms as I have mentioned before here and on other forums. I did not have any safe queens or a huge collection anyway. It was not because I 'had to' but because of a MOVE and/or ease of movement. My groom and I have consolidated MANY of our firearms due to matching calibers too. He sold some guns too.

I don't have pictures but you could look them up on Marlin and Ruger websites!

Two sweet NIB Marlin 39A rifles - lever action of course!

One NIB Ruger Super Single Six - (22LR/22WMR) - single action revolver of course!

My Ruger Bisley in 22LR - S/A Revolver may go to my husband. NIB circa 1998-2001.

I may get a NIB Marlin 336C in 30-30. He will have our Marlin 336SS and I will go with the classic C - both have the walnut stocks.

Most of our ammunition is down to a 'match' or close to it in firearms. My firearms are now in 22LR. He has a few 22s. The others are a match like in 45Colt aka long colt, 45ACP, 357Magnum/38Special, only one 9mm Glock Model 19C though, etc. The hunting rifles and calibers including the 45-70 are ones that he uses. (I use the 30-30 for woods protection.) I may try his .223 caliber rifles (I have shot that caliber before a few times.) but I don't really want one for myself - I am not knocking them!

I am getting into 'rifles' more after mainly being a 'handgun lady' for the last 11 plus years. Not counting the handgun that I mainly used of my late husband's prior to that time frame.

I am shooting 22LR caliber firearms the most now, especially in the Marlin39A even though we have plenty of centerfire factory ammunition and he 'reloads' too. I plan to shoot it this week since I used various handguns last Monday @ our range.

    Thanks again for sharing!

I collect and accumulate guns because I like to shoot them and I appreciate the craftsmanship. I shoot both long guns and handguns. I prefer revolvers. Used to hunt a lot, but that passtime has been reduced as it's hard to find legal places to hunt without spending a lot of money.

Been shooting more 22's because I enjoy the challenge of punching holes in targets and plinking. Been buying 22 rifles for the last year or so. None are collector stuff. My most recent is a Marlin 39A like Catherine. Never owned one and I thought it time. I've never photographed my accumulation except for insurance purposes nor have I made a public list on the internet. I try to fulfill my dreams.

I picked up an old 39 not too long ago myself. I love that thing. My favorite rifle by far.

And yes, I too have been shooting mostly .22 as of late.
