Remove blue and polish

I'm not s gunsmith forgive me if I use the wrong terms.

I have a standard P239 and the bluing is very inconsistent and scratched around the barrel. I am mainly concerned with the chamber that you can see through the ejection port. I am thinking about just removing the bluing so it looks like this.



I don't think it would be any more prone to rust than it already is, i just want a consistent color there. I think it will look nicer. What is the easiest and cheapest way to do this? Do I just remove the bluing with a product designed for that and then polish it? Suggestions on easy ways to polish would be appreciated. I don't want it fancy and shiny just all the same color like the pic. I need to know how to do this by hand because I don't have a dremel or anything. Anybody used the 3M polishing clothes? Input appreciated.

Go to a auto parts store and get Mothers Mag Wheel Polish. With a rag, rub it on. It will remove the finish, and polish. I have done 5-6 barrels, and they came out great. Takes about one hour.

1 old 0311, did you just go ahead and do the whole barrel or just the chamber seen through the ejection port?

I started with the chamber that can be seen. It looked so good I did the whole thing.

What type of clothe did you use to polish?

Old T shirt, eraser size glob of Mothers, and start rubbing. Rub in one spot 2-3 minutes, use a dry spot on the cloth to wipe the excess off, and start again. I sit in fromt of the TV and do it when the girlfriend watches Lifetime. Gets me points for being there, PLUS I get something done.
