    S&W 686 cylinder won't turn

    My relatively-new 686 revolver's cylinder won't rotate.

I shot 50 rounds through it yesterday (it shot perfectly), brought it home to clean, and thought I'd try unscrewing the ejector rod to clean down the center of the cylinder. The rod and ejector star came out fine, and somehow the cylinder ended up rotating its way toward the back of the gun, and very much "frozen".

Any advice on how to "unstick" it?

Which way should it be rotating to head back forward? (The same way it would while being fired -- counter clockwise when viewed from the back, or the other way?)

    Thanks for any advice.

    I fixed it!

Holding the muzzle of the gun against the carpet, I pushed hard on the cylinder (toward the muzzle), and it snapped back where it belonged. Turns like a top!
