And if Congress really wants to subsidize health insurance for folks directly, it should do so first for those who earn it, like military reservists and their families who only are covered by military health insurance when called to active duty. In fact, allowing reservists to pay to join Tricare like military retirees do has the added positive military readiness externality of boosting the health of our reserve component forces.

It's already done. Tricare Reserve Select costs me $180/month for family coverage.

Look, I hate Obama about as much as I can and still be under oath in the military, but the headline you gave this one is more sky is falling rhetoric. If we're going to be the side of reason we don't need sensationalism. The Obamacare will hurt us all, military or not. As a 15 year member of the military I would like to say the military deserves no special treatment. Americans, one and the same. The only thing I like less than Obama et. al are people who pander to the military.

Can't comment... got censured by pm for my last comments re: "the anointed one" by the mod who didn't understand my sarcasm regarding BO's approach to law enforcement in the Prof. Gates incident. He didn't seem to understand that all of BO's programs are to define your life for you... it has nothing to do with healthcare, or whatever the particular "bill" is touted as... it's all about totalitarian control.

I have lots of family in the military, and anything this administration does is directly focused at weakening their position in both our society and the world. It's the difference between having a "commander in chief" and an "apologist in chief".

Most of the gun people on here have always been and are still very active in 'politics' - pro gun, pro liberty, etc. issues. They do write, email, snail mail, call, vote, etc. and always have.

I think that the 'medical system' in this country STINKS with a passion. I think that many things in this country stink with a passion as they did in the past and still do.

• Page 22: Mandates audits of all employers that self-insure!
• Page 29: Admission: your health care will be rationed!
• Page 30: A government committee will decide what treatments and benefits you get (and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process)
• Page 42: The "Health Choices Commissioner" will decide health benefits for you. You will have no choice. None.
• Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services.
• Page 58: Every person will be issued a National ID Healthcard.
• Page 59: The federal government will have direct, real-time access to all individual bank accounts for electronic funds transfer.
• Page 65: Taxpayers will subsidize all union retiree and community organizer health plans (read: SEIU, UAW and ACORN)

I work for the Federal Government. I have health insurance as part of my job.

That is 'health insurance'; I have Pacificare, a private company and the government pays a good deal of my premiums. I think it's a good deal. Did you all get the part about the 'government pays a good deal of my premiums'? If this Socialized Medicine program gets passed, does anyone think the government will keep paying a private company for my health insurance? I don't.

All us non-elected (working people) are going to be summarily dumped into the Socialized Government program. The Administration will proclaim this a great 'cost saving' move.

Any of you guys (and women) belong to a union and get health care paid by the union? Guess who's going to follow this great 'cost saving' move? Union members may be gun owners and are mostly honest workers, but union leaders are all owned by the Democrat party. I'm not suggesting you all leave the unions, but you ought to take the unions back.

Elected officials? I'm not so sure they will part of the Socialized system. Or perhaps they will be part of a 'special' section of the plan. As George Orwell said in his novel Animal Farm, "All animals are equal, but some are more equal".

And yes; the Center for Disease Control, already very vocal about their liberal views on guns and gun ownership, are sure under the present Administration to demonstrate beyond question guns are a serious health hazard and gun violence runs health care costs 'through the roof'.

I'm not for health care reform, but I'm not worried that my potential retirement benefit will be taken away by any plan that actually gets passed by Congress.

IF we get socialized medicine it should become
less costly to open up a gun range.

Won't need to carry any liability insurance any longer, right?

I mean, if everyone's on O care and someone has an 'accident' at the range.
No problem, the gov has the medical expenses covered.

Same for future vehicle insurance.
I guess our premiums should go down, right?
Since we wont need to carry medical liability (because everyone gets O care).
We can drop our mandatory PIP too and just pay a small property damage liability premium.

Hey, doctors wont need to pay those high premiums either
for mal practice. Doc one screws up... no problem, O care can wheel you over to
another doctor to fix doc one's mistakes.
Now since the doctors and hospitals don't have to carry all that extra insurance,
health care prices will go down, right?

Bottom line.
If there's going to be a new system EVERYBODY
(Including congress critters) needs to be on the same plan.

Wow. I am shaking in rage as of rite now. 10:03 central time. I have never seen any of my guns delibrately go out and kill somebody and do it in the name of healthcare. I dont like Obamacare at all. It smell like $h!t to me.

Now to address my opinion on the paying for illegals: WTF!!!!!!!!! Heres my take on fixin them. SHOOT ON SIGHT! Tada problem solved. Yes i do know that my method is a little over the top but i may just be a little worked up. IDK about the rest of you guys but im terrified at what is to become of this country IF this Obamacare system is carried out into affect.
