    Allowable responses:

    > No. Allowing firearms will only increase the risk of reckless gun violence.

    > Yes. Families should be allowed to protect themselves, especially on public lands.

    > Maybe. They should allow only some firearms, not loaded assault-style weapons like Uzis, for example.

    > I don't know

I'm wondering why they specified "families" instead of just plain old "people" --which would include individuals. I'm wondering if they have in mind that an armed "family" person is not likely to rob, assault, rape, others.

I'm wondering what goes through a person's mind when s/he reads "allow only some firearms." Some?

I'm wondering if they randomized the order of the responses when an individual accesses the poll. I'm wondering what kind of skewing would result if "I don't know" were always the first response available.

Well, regardless, I'm sure you folks know the correct response for this poll.

Some of the anti responses are thoroughly amusing.

Until you realize that the writers mean what they said.

My, my, we have been fed pap with a spoon, haven't we! Voted. Will be taking advantage of the new law when it goes into effect, as well.
If total government control equals safety, why are prisons so dangerous?

The antis must be spitting mad that their anointed one APPROVED this wonderful measure
and that the critters they sent to Washington
slipped it into a credit card reform bill at that. ha

Wonder who they will vote for next time?
I also wonder how all that hope and change is working out for them now.

And media anti-gunners (MSNBC? PLEASE!!) must be howling that, no matter how they craft a poll, 67.7% of over 20k votes say: guns are fine, and "assault weapons" are fine, too.

    Another great anti quote:
More idiocy from the 2nd Amendment nuts. Didn't Jesus say those who live by the sword shall die by the sword?
Yeah, he also said if you didn't have a sword to sell your cloak and buy one, probably so you could kill some yahoo living by the sword.
No, holding that venegence upon their enemies was more to be desired than any personal blessings, and reckoning this to be the most glorious of hazards, they joyfully determined to accept the risk... Thus, choosing to die resisting, rather than to live submitting, they fled only from dishonor... Pericles' Funeral Oration

    Sorry about that!

Apparently they didn't like the poll results nor the comments. Figures.

    Umm, folks...

After voting, and then posting a reply to one idiot comment, I realized...

This poll is from MAY 2009. While it probably won't hurt to keep hitting it, I think it's a done deal by now.

It's interesting to note that the vast majority of comments from the "pro" side discuss the 2A, protection from crimnals and animals, etc....

The majority of the responses from the "con" side are emotion/stupidity based; (bubba with a gun, Dick Cheney.....)
