Restore the Constitution Rally 4-19-2010, Northern VA (near the Potomac)

Just found this forum, read the guidelines, and it looks like a good a place as any to make members aware of this event which provides participants an opportunity to exercise their 1st and 2nd Amendment rights simultaneously. Rights, like muscles, atrophy if not used:

What: "Restore the Constitution" rally held at a firearms carry legal location as close to DC as possible.
When: 9AM-5PM, April 19th, 2010 (monday), the 235th anniversary of the start of the American Revolutionary War
Where: Initial staging at Ft. Hunt National Park, Northern VA

Details: Staging area will be Ft. Hunt National Park, located about 12 miles south of DC. Participants will gather there, and a speaking program will be provided. From there, participants will have the opportunity to travel in small convoys up to Gravelly Point Park so they can "step up to the edge." Gravelly Point Park is right on the Potomac, about a mile from the National Mall in DC.

All laws will be followed and numerous safety precautions and rules will be in place. Replace the pine trees below with the Potomac river and the Washington Monument in the distant background, add a few more people, and it should look something like the picture below.

Your rights: use 'em or lose 'em:

So we can all bring our AR's?

Yes, but we ask that they (rifles) be unloaded to avoid the chance of negligent discharge. Soldiers and Marines on military bases in the US and overseas usually have to follow similar guidelines.

However, the pistol in the picture is loaded, and that is how I plan on carrying my pistol. Note that I'm not specifically calling on anyone to come armed with anything. Participants are more than welcome whether they come armed with rifles (unloaded), pistols, both or none.

I'm sorry your not getting too many responses to this important demonstration at this particular forum.
Personally, I feel it's NOT that people are no longer interested
and have once again, become complacent.
My take, is that most of the folks in your area (and elsewhere) will just show up and support the demonstration.
I also think many may be past the point of demonstrating, writing their critters and such
and are preparing for the inevitable >>> IF we can't turn this socialist/communist BS around
    at the next election cycle.

I say that, because I've notice a drop in people speaking freely on internet forums as to their intentions.
That's not to say they gave up.
I think it's more of 'why alert the monitors' of our intended actions, IF things don't change and soon.

Good luck to all of you good folks up there, I'm not too far away.
If I decide to go to this particular demonstration, I'll make sure I make my way to you
and introduce myself and thank you for alerting us to this particular upcoming event.

Thanks for letting us know and welcome to THR.

HEY MONITORS, HERE WE ARE, PLOTTING THE DEMISE OF YOUR AUTHORITARIAN CONTROL WITH OUR LIBERTY!!!!!

Sorry to let the cat out of the bag

So, how did it go? According to the AP y'all had a few hundred folks.

At our forthcoming PA rally we will have to check our firearms with the authorities... it's inside the state capital building, so I guess that is a bonus.

I hope the OP gets back to us.
Seems the MSM and some of the 'unconstitutional peeps' are screaming >>> this was not a good idea.

I think it was and should be a marvelous idea to keep up the pressure for future events.

Some critters are getting pretty worried that their bosses, (us) are paying attention to their illegal acts over the years.

    THIS is a good thing.

    Let FREEDOM ring.

The local opinion is that Henry will be bucking for an appointment in the Obama adminsitration and doesn't want to damage is credibility with the libs.

I'm a bit more interested in the outcome of HB3354 which would allow open carry for permit holders.
While not the perfect option it is a step in the right direction. So far it has passed both houses and has come back to the house after amendments by the senate. We are waiting on a vote in the house .
