They do, Treo. Look at the top of the page. Currently 1001 support the ban and 10,224 oppose the ban.

It's that 10% of the population that scares me, thinking that we'd all be safer if only law enforcement had the ability to defend us. That small percentage tends to make a huge impact on the rest of us, sane or otherwise.

safer if only law enforcement had the ability to defend us

To repeat the mantra of Law and Order there are the police who investigate the crime, and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders.

The police cannot defend you, because criminals don't attack victims in the presence of police. When a home invader kicked in my sister's door at 2:00am in the morning there were no police there to protect her; Sturm Ruger & Co were there in the form of a SecuritySix revolver.

At the time of the Eisenhower Commission recommendation to ban handguns in the 1950s, researcher Hans Toch believed it was a good idea; his further research convinced him it would not work. Since then he has argued against the idea of a handgun ban.

10% may sound like a minority, but as the UK pistol ban points out, a very loud tiny minority of gun haters and a silent larger but still minority of gun owners, coupled with an indifferent majority, can have an affect all out of proportion.

I find it quite hilarious that there are so many "Gun Control" polls. Nearly every time one is put up, there is a near-instant Pro Gun Majority. Nation wide polls usually end up with the Pro Gun choice overwhelmingly supported in these polls. It's sad that they keep trying.

I tried to vote, I got as far as typing the numbers in the space to "stop bots and spammers",the numbers were 2504, I went three tries and failed, I wonder how it would have went down if I had voted to support the ban?

Let's have a national referendum. Anyone voting to ban handguns, would henceforth be banned from owning a handgun. Anyone opposing would be allowed to own as many as they want and to carry openly, concealed, whatever.

Perhaps the next question should be, "Is the Bill of Rights no longer valid?"

1247 to 13661 Looks like America doesn't want to have a handgun ban. I just might be regaining my faith in the American people!

10% would be against the Bill of Rights too.
10% are for higher taxes, bigger government, fewer rights.
    10% want the nanny state.
    10% want communism.

i am just shocked at people who attack the phrase "God-given right"
because God had never mentioned "gun"

what kind of logic is that?

how do you not understand natural rights? for example, the right to defend oneself.... it doesn't get any more natural than that....

    GOOFBALLS!
    ... these people vote....

as for the Bill of Rights
how do you not understand that...
    *the freedom of speech
    *right to assemble
    *freedom of press
*and the right to bear arms
... all go together in one big package system of keeping tyranny/authoritarianism at bay...

i saw one feller trying to explain that the government and constitution "give" rights...
    who teaches this bogus stuff?

    people dont read...
Freedom is the sure possession of those alone who have the courage to defend it.

Being taught by the public schools and although I am not one who tends to paranoid, I am beginning to see that what we are seeing out there today is not an accident.

of course I voted against - but would like to see additional measures in the I.D. process mainly proof of maintaining a home/property (rv-camper)/ dwelling as proof of residency and voter registration too.
too many handguns get into the pipeline bought then sold/traded by buyers with no actual permanent residence - something our forefathers did not see in the future. just IMO.

Why should having no permanent residence be a bar to firearms ownership?

As the sole voter in my area, we oppose the ban. I agree with the above post, if I want to wander the country with no set residence, I should be able to own a gun. I would be required to obey the laws of the places I roamed.
