It's just like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, except the Earth isn't destroyed and Arthur Dent is seven people.

I hope all has been fixed, and the guilty party at least idnetified.

. . ever.
This gives hackers plenty of time to "guess" the password.
I personally use a 27 character password made up of random letters, numbers and non-alpha characters (which, in theory would take somewhere short of a million years to "guess") and I change it regularly.
When someone is "hacked", 99% of the time it's because they let themselves be.
Hmm..
On a similar note, I used to have a secondary Gmail account where the password was just a nine letter word that's in very common usage.
One day, someone gained control of it. No real loss.. didn't have anything there but registrations to various game sites and the like.
That's just silly. Hard to remember random stuff. I mean, work the numbers. If you take five dictionary words and use that, it's much easier to remember and almost as hard to guess..I personally use a 27 character password made up of random letters, numbers and non-alpha characters (which, in theory would take somewhere short of a million years to "guess") and I change it regularly.

Google has this 2 step verification to prevent your gmail account from being hacked.
Someone attempted to hack mine few months back and good thing I was able to use their 2 step verification. Basically in addition to your regular password, you have to enter a one time code generated on an app on your smartphone (iPhone, Android, blackberry).
