    Magazine pouch

I bought some Walther P1 magazines from CDNN, and to get the order over $50 to take advantage of a free shipping offer I bought some other odds and ends, including a single-stack magazine pouch for $2.49. The stuff got here today. (BTW, the Walther mags are supposed to be used but they look new)

The pouch is nylon and big enough to firmly hold two P1/P38 mags side-by-side. It has the expected belt loop on the back, but also two elastic band that I can't figure out what they are for except maybe for putting it on your belt *sideways* (until the elastic wears out) for better concealment under a shirt tail.

But the part that has me confused is the plastic clasp on the front to hold the flap shut. It's a big clasp attached with 25mm nylon webbing, but the flap has Velcro already to keep it shut -- is there any reason to *not* cut the silly clasp off?

Somewhat related: Does anyone know where to get a cheap P38 holster -- left handed?

Once it's off you can't put it back. I usually wait before doing something like that
