    The ROUGH RIDERS

    An older offering showing a lot of 30/40 KRAGS, Spanish Mausers, and old MGs.

    A fairly well-made period piece, IMO Tom Berenger (playing Teddy

    Roosevelt) at his finest...

    I particularly liked the many battle scenes, combined with the

    attempts at historic accuracy. AFAIK, one of the overall better

    war movies.

    Got it on a Sam Elliott three-some DVD set, and just watched it last night.

    Pretty good movie, though I perhaps take away something different than the producers intended: the early efforts to drum up patriotism and sympathy to foster the warfare state and imperialism.

    Yeah, because the "dying for the oil market" we're doing now

    is so much better...

    ...I can't lay claim to the politics, I just liked the movie.
