    American Dad/America Scrooge

This had such a happy ending, I just had to share...
(That, and it's 3am, so I must be lonely...)

After enduring so many people saying "Happy Holiday", and NOT "Merry Christmas", Stan scrooges out and wrecks his family's Christmas. (And blames some anti-war actress from years ago for ruining Christmas...)

That night, The Ghost of Christmas Past (GCP) visits and takes Stan back to 1970(ish). Stan bolts on some delusion that he has to kill that actress to save Christmas. Instead, in a chance encounter, he convinces Martin Scorsese to stop taking drugs, who then, lacking any chemically induced inspiration, goes on to NOT make Taxi Drive. Subsequently, John Hinkely doesn't get infatuated with Jodi Foster, so he doesn't shoot Reagan, who, as a result of no post shooting publicity, doesn't win a second election. Finally, 47 days into his term, Mondale gives the US to the Soviet Union. So, in a nutshell - Stan destroyed America. He is devastated.

So, back in time they go (Stan, GCP, and Stan's wife) to try and fix things. In short, since Hinkley doesn't shoot Reagan, Stan has to - in order to save America, and Christmas. An obviously difficult scenario for any red blooded America. Cut/fade away from past to the sound of gun shots...

Back in the present, everything seems normal, and Stan & his family is happy. As a parting gift, the GCP gives Stan a new Glock she bought the day before.

But wait - how is that possible? "What about the 7 day waiting period?", Stan asks. Well, says the GCP, you (Stan) only shot Reagan, and not Brady, so, no Brady bill. You can get a gun anytime you want...

Stan hugs his new gun and is now even more happy...

    Yea, happy endings...

(Anybody want to also hear about the Family Guy episode that' on now? It has guns too!)

Is this an actual show or a strange dream?

American Dad is a Television show by the creator of Family Guy.

Seems like Seth MacFarlane has gotten into the gun scene as of late, if his shows are any indication.

    Hi Armoredman,

Is this an actual show or a strange dream?
American Dad is an "adult" cartoon series that is attempting to cash in on the popularity of the Simpsons. There are several, including 'Family Guy', 'South Park' and the rather disturbing and disgusting 'Futurama.' If you have never seen them you have my envy.

I saw The Simpsons when it was part of the Tracy Ulman show back in the 80s, and some since then. I did see an episode of Family Guy, and turned off an episode of South park halfway through. Guess I am too old and not cool any more. No worries.

Weird. I love Futurama. Never been disturbed or disgusted by it. Just makes me laugh.

Oh... and they have lots and lots of guns. Ray guns, blasters, lasers, particle weapons, etc. :-)

No, dream - it's real! (Or am I dreaming now?...)
    ...Just makes me laugh.
This. I'm crackin' up just thinking about it... (Or maybe I'm just cracked...)

I realize the gun connection was a bit on the periphery of my OP, but guns are a rather common prop in American Dad. I posted because I can't decide if the show's writers are pro gun/liberty, or if it's a (not so) subtle slam against. Well, actually, I don't really care - I just thought it was funny...

Seth MacFarlane is a die hard democrat and extreme liberal, generally if he takes a stance on guns, it's to ultimately make the owner/user look like an idiot.

Futurama and American Dad just happen to be my two favorite TV shows in existence. Futurama in particular is worth a second look.
It's just like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, except the Earth isn't destroyed and Arthur Dent is seven people.

I find Futurama to be amusing, but inferior to The Simpsons. American Dad, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, all those - they suck. There may be occasional moments of cleverness, but not nearly enough to get me to overlook their idiocy.

Naturally, YMMV. But you have the right to be wrong.

I occasionally watch both the Simpsons and Futurama, but never warmed to American Dad, Family Guy, Cleveland Show, or (worst) Bob's Burgers.

I - rarely - tune in to South Park, and usually tune out before the first commercial break. The one episode I liked was the one where the kids were trying to save classic movies from re-editing by their directors.
Pay attention - the inmates really are running the asylum.

The two guys who write South Park are actually conservative Republicans. I wish they'd branch out into something a little more mature.

South Park has it's moments, where you see past the crude humor, and realize: This show has an underlying important theme.

Then a talking piece of fecal matter starts singing and dancing all over, and it's ruined.

It's a show. I saw "happy ending" and I was thinking if somebody had gone for a Mike Romeo at an Alpha Mike Papa. American dad uses guns for comedy, so I don't really see it as being pro or anti gun; it will use whichever perspective allows for more laughs.

Just don't see the funny in them myself, but I know lots of people that like them.

I guess I do see the funnys, but not fast enough. Can't sit still that long.
