The only reason Hillary is anti-gun, is she thinks she'll

get better voter support that way. The same with B.O.

We need to get the 140,000,000 gun owners in America

    off their duffs...

Lou is all over the rising gas prices right now. Here's my take on how fuel prices are going to hammer shooters and hunters:

Economics 101: Everything revolves around the price of fuel

Recreational shooters and hunters — whether they live in Bellevue, Boise, Kalispell or Klamath Falls — have one thing in common besides firearms; they all face another hit to the wallet and the family budget with once-again sharply rising fuel costs.

I haven't seen gas for under $4 in at least a year. Right now it's $4.29. When the price rises, it rises sharply since our fuel comes in barges every couple of months, and so we get a two month price jump all at once. I suspect we here in Kodiak will be well over $5 when the next shipment arrives.

Fuel is $6 or $7 a gallon in more remote areas that get bi-yearly deliveries. They'll be getting smacked with an extra couple of bucks on top of that when the spring barges arrive.

With gasoline, you just cut back on your driving, but what kills you is home heating costs. That won't be a factor in summer, but next winter is going to be brutal across the northern US.

Compute how much you spend in gasoline and heating in a year and add 25 to 40% to that amount. Project that number to 300 million people across the country. What does that do to tourist areas? What does that do to airline ticket prices? What does that do to the housing market - still want to buy a large home with heating costs that high? With $400 or $500 a month less in your budget, do you still want to buy that new car (gun, ATV, boat, whatever), or do you think you'll wait now?

That's a lot of money going directly to the middle east instead of being spent here. Economics is a house of cards. Money removed from one sector affects every other sector.

Obamanomics... He'll blame the greedy oil companies instead of his own idiotic "green energy" polices that have thwarted every attempt to increase production.

Katrina was blamed for the first meteoric rise, and that's getting to be a pretty old dog to whup. You'd think they'd have repaired those refineries by now...
If total government control equals safety, why are prisons so dangerous?

    Try this on for size....

Newt coming to WA after knocking Obama on energy

Hot on the heels of Monday’s column on how rising fuel prices will hammer Northwest shooters and hunters, Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich is headed for Washington State later this week, perhaps to repeat his going-viral observation about how President Obama wants everyone to drive smaller cars.

    Fair enough: Ask them all

Tuesday morning’s column on the looming Newt Gingrich visit to Washington State later this week prompted a pal from California to suggest that a list of questions this column might pose to the former House Speaker should be thrown at all the Republican presidential candidates.
