    Scout rifle Build questions

First off I have multiple choices for a base, Marlin 336 30-30 Win, Marlin 1894c .357 mag, Marlin 1894 44 mag and an Ishapore 2A in 308.
All are currently in my Gun Safe and acquiring one is not an issue.
I'm leaning toward the Ishapore for the following reasons,
First it is in a Caliber Col. Cooper recommended for the build.
Second I have multiple copies including a stripped receiver to build from so if I don't like the end product I'm not screwing up a good rifle, I will still have one stock untouched if I do this.
Lastly I am kind of new to the whole Scout Rifle platform so tinkering with the Ishy is a relatively inexpensive platform to start from, I got both that I own for less than $200.00 and the receiver for less than $100.00.
Is this sound logic to anyone else? or am I missing something

    MDig,

Sounds like an awesome plan. I really like the Ishy actions, solid and strong.

Pop over the Scout Rifle forum www.scoutrifle.org to see a few other scouts and builds that people have in the works.

As long as you're not butchering a good rifle.

Got a source for magazines, or stripper clips?

Have you shot a scout rifle?

Lots of people DON'T like it after they get to it.

Try one before you cut up anything, even if it is just a currently made barrel.

    go for it

You will learn a lot doing it.
Dunno about your action but the ishy action I shot was butter smooth.

I am working a 762X54 mosin M44 into the "Scout" model, because it's mostly already there ( short, bolt action with a forward scope mount and 5 round mag).

I recommend handloading for the rifle, so you can build a load that suits you and the rifle.
