I am getting the same message. Tried to start a new thread. "Parallels?" What's going on?

    This is crap.

    Weird

    Weird stuff.

    Just hit me too.

Okay, I've just gone back into this short post to see if I can make it longer by editing/saving it.

I'm just typing in random stuff to take up space.

    Here's another line of crud.

Okay, now let's hit 'Save' and see if that lets me keep the longer version . . .

    . . .

    Yes, it does . . .

    That's just weird.

You can write something long, select/copy (or cut), write a couple of words, post it, hit 'Edit' and paste in the longer version and hit 'Save' and it lets you keep the longer version.

    Something's obviously broken.

    I Dunno

    I don't think it's a hack.

I think one of the hamsters fell off the wheel.

I'm getting strange behavior, too, but I can write a long post, copy it, save something short, edit the post, paste in the longer stuff, save it, and you get the original post.

No, it's not supposed to make you jump through a bunch of hoops.

I have no idea what broke.

It's a server issue, I'm getting the same errors on Calguns which is also hosted by GeoVario.

I'm chasing this down for Calguns so I'll tell them about GRM too.

Short answer... crappy security patch. ( now removed ).

Sorry all; life around here should have returned to normal about 30 mins ago.

    Not hardly.

There are two things that can happen if GRM is "hacked".

    1) The hackers will grab the database for data mining purposes (stealing your email addresses for spam use, etc). This hack will not be noticeable from your chair. This is a hack driven by monetary reasons (they can sell the emails they recover to spammers)

    2) The hackers will gain access and wipe the forum software, replacing it with their "mark". This will definitely be noticeable from you chair. This is a "pride" hack. "HEY LOOK AT ME - I HACKED (whatever site) AND LEFT MY MARK! I AM GREAT HACKER!"

No cracker will risk prison time to break into a system just to uncross a "t" in the code just to cause the software to start acting wonky.

The actual term is "cracked", btw. "Hack" is (or was) a term describing any computer programmer who "hacks" on code (based on "hacking the keys of a typewriter"). Unfortunately, the media has twisted the term worse than last year's garden hose.

"Tactical" is a mindset, not an equipment list.

I used to use the term "hacking" for back-engineering a code or file format to fix an incompatibility the software vendors did not cover.

I hate to see it used foday for the tactical equivalent of finding a door key under a flowerpot, then entering a house to vandalize or rob.
