    Just TOO small to handle

I finally found a gun that was just too small for me to get a handle on: the Ruger LCP. I've mananged with a number of j-frames with boot grips but never found a gun that was just so small I couldn't work it comfortably at all. Yesterday I worked a buddy's Kel Tec P-9 happily. Heck, I even managed a Jennings J-22, Beretta Bobcat, and a Taurus PT-22 but the LCP was just too small for me. It may have had something to do with the fact that I was trying to manage the LASER button on the grip while firing.
We're all looking for the "just right" gun. What have you found that's just too big or too small for you to handle? I'm talking grips, not caliber.

I’ve found all the sub-compact autos to be too small because of the difficulty, for me, of racking the slide.

The recoil is no fun, either.

I can't shoot anything smaller than a Makarov, I find Desert Eagles to be comfortable. My hands are just big and I have fat fingers.

K-N frame Smiths have always been my go to guns for carry and the J-frames will do in a pinch, (Kind of hard to stuff a 4-inch barreled K-frame into a vest pocket) For most uses the J-frames are too small for me.

my hands are best described as "monsterish" ... and I have no trouble with a Kel Tec P32, which is a bit smaller than an LCP

... of course, the P32 is pretty minimal, no laser, no controls but a mag catch and trigger. Maybe it is easier because it doesn't give up any surface real estate to un-wanted un-needed controls and gadgets.

With some effort and thought, even a NAA mini-revolver can be handled competently, I have yet to find a gun too small to operate. I've found guns that just feel wrong in the hand. Beretta's M9/92 series (unfortunate, as that was what the Navy issued) and most Glock grips, but those are too large in the wrong places, not too small.

    It Took Me a While...

...(along with the right grips) to get the feeling that I had mastered J-frame revolvers. A while back, I dug a Kahr P9 Covert out of the safe, for pocket carry, because I wanted at least one gun on my person fitted with the HexSite. As I began polishing technique with this pistol, I discovered that I have to use a different grip with it than the one I use for larger pistols. On larger pistols, the proximal knuckles (those nearest the palm) generally rest on the front strap of the pistol. In order to keep the smaller pistol stable in my hand, during trigger stroke and recoil, I found that I need to rotate the short-grip Kahr so that the flat of the grip frame rests flat on the palm. This places those proximal knuckles on the far side of the the front strap.

There are also some minor technique adjustments that I find more suitable for such a small pistol. As I carry a pair of J-frame revolvers on the belt, this hasn't been too big an issue for me but I can see how it could be if I were to alternate between that pocket-size pistol and a larger one on the belt or on the nightstand.

For me, with average/large hands, J-frames and PF-9s are at the bottom of my comfort level. I have fired a P3AT successfully, but it just felt too small, and was on the verge of shifting around despite my hardest grip.
