You'd think by now that the intelligentsia at the NRA would know the difference between law enforcement and jack-booted thuggery. I give them no pass.

The NRA is involved with the Second Amendment, not the Fourth Amendment.

I don't want them spending my membership dollars on other issues, as that constitutes a dilution of effort and funds and will drive away members who are not on board with the other issues. One could just as easily ask, where was the GOA on this ?

A better question is, why isn't the ACLU doing something, but since I'm not a member I have no standing.
I am not a real bullet, nor do I play one on television.

While it is true that there is a 4th Amendment element to this, the "F" part of BATFE is no doubt involved here...

... the task force made 13 arrests in a major gun and drug sweep ...

The united States got along quite well without the FBI up until Prohibition.

Of course, they did have the US Marshalls.

    I agree.

I have absolutely no quarrel whatsoever with USMA and harbor the highest respect for them. At least there is a legitimate and valid Constitutional basis for their existence and out of all the feral agencies they have never to my knowledge compromised their integrity for political expedience or engaged in publicity stunts for budget considerations.

I would suspect that the "necessary and proper" clause allows for a police force to protect federal properties from theft, vandalism, and so forth. This could also include spitting on federal property.
Actually, the enumerated powers given to the government are spelled out and that is all they are given by the Constitution. They were never supposed to read into the Constitution to expand their powers as you suggest.
