Honestly, every business that kicked me out for OC, when OC was the only game in town all went out of business or changed owners. I doubt I had anything to do with it, of course.

2d6? In an autoduel a light pistol was worth one 1 hit damage, worthless against metal armor. Look THAT reference up, fellow geeks!
If total government control equals safety, why are prisons so dangerous?

Aaryq, did the store owner post those signs in ND or are you stationed in another State? Of course, good luck with the convo., but I think location would have some bearing on the approach, from both a 'cultural' and 'legal/lawful' perspective.

    >IF you encounter the insurance "reason", ask to see the actual text. I'm of the opinion that the "insurance says so" excuse has become a catch-all and is almost always a myth.<

I know in Wisconsin, it's complete BS. Our CCW law includes civil immunity for business owners who allow CCW

Pretty sure you're talking Car Wars. Been DECADES since I played that!
So... where ARE we going, and why ARE we in this handbasket?

Even if the insurance policy answer is a dodge, I hardly think implying that the owner is lying will get you anywhere useful.

What I don't understand here... is this place the only game in town? First rule of social activity is there are going to be people that don't like certain things you do. You aren't going to change their minds under normal circumstances so you curtsey, give an appropriate salute and go elsewhere.
You may think I just fell off the turnip truck but keep in mind I grew the turnips and it's my truck.

Well, the owner is implying that I am a criminal, so I don't particularly care.

In the end, the best solution is to not patronize businesses that don't allow weapons. Why put your money in the pockets of people who despise your civil liberties? If you belong to a range or club, perhaps start a "hit list" to discourage other shooters from patronizing such places. Make damned sure these business's know that their policy is being used as the basis of a boycott.

If you hurt their bottom line, the policy will change. If they even think the policy will hurt their bottom line, the policy will change.

    Reminds me of:

In the Birmingham, Alabama area there is a local burger chain known as Milo's -- well liked. In the same plaza as the anchor Milo's, there's a BW3. On football Saturdays the plaza is jammed, and there were a fair number of folks who would buy a Milo's, take it to the BW3, eat their burger, buy BW3's beer, and watch the game.

The manager decided to stop letting people bring their Milo's in. The football fans staged a little protest -- they still filled the parking lot, listening to the game and eating Milo's, but they didn't go in to the BW3.

    The manager changed his mind.

Your inference may not equal his implication.

Perhaps it is time for you to open your own store and out compete the guy?

Not sure this would get you far, I'd be rather averse to showing important business documents to relative strangers.

A better approach might be to ask/encourage them to review their insurance policy documents for such a restriction.
