    Acto of Valor

Well I watched the DVD last night-I'm a little undecided on this one?
Not bad, but not as great as some make it out to be - a little heavy on action, light on plot, but I'm not gonna knock it on that. The fact that current Navy Seals were used in the filming did pique my interest enough to convince me to watch it.

What kept going through my head while watching it was...hey, this is Tears of the Sun! I remember seeing the original trailer over a year ago, and thought the same thing at the time, and even the music in the trailer reminded me of Tears of the Sun (TotS music was darn good-one of my favorite soundtracks).
Based on a number of viewer reviews, Act of Valor good, Tears of the Sun bad...go figure?

BTW-I really enjoyed Moneyball, 'specially since it was based on a true story!
(yeah, it was movie night at BB's house last night).

Saw it in the theater on base (premiere for our local Navy folks); enjoyed it then, but found more things to appreciate about the movie when I watched it on Blu-ray at home ... as a retired Navy guy I may be biased, but I always enjoy flicks that portray us as intelligent, loyal and dedicated (hey, I even like the TV show JAG). Anyway, the realistic depiction of firearms use in combat was awesome (to me).

Tears of the Sun was a good flick, too ... Bruce Willis may be underrated as an actor sometimes.

And Moneyball? Excellent. A film for intelligent people, not the masses. God help me, I'm starting to like Brad Pitt ..

Just picked up Barnes & Nobles only copy the other day, had quite a few gift cards to use, so I decided to put them to good use.

I also liked Tears of the Sun, thought that showed the Navy in actual operations where there are real moral and ethical dilemmas placed there by politicians 1,000's of miles away. If you are Bruce Willis, do you get your men out or sacrifice them to save the innocent? And of course they were never given a whole picture of the situation o the ground.

Yeah...I'd say that's the only bad thing 'bout the movie (before I watched it), although he did do a good job.

I really enjoyed JAG when it was in the courtroom (and some of the cases leading up to the court stuff) and showed how unique and different from civilian law military law can be?
Some of the side / love stories got to be a bit much.

'Course, having a little eye candy like Catherine Bell didn't hurt one little bit!

AFA Tears of the Sun DVD, some of the extras on the disc were good / interesting.
