    Opinions on Diane Rehm

Is this lady anti gun? I havent listened to her much. However, I thought I caught some hoplaphobe vibe from her. We have been listening to NPR quite a bit at work just b/c we are burnt out on most genres of music and after the Neil Bortz show conservative radio turns sort of crazy for the rest of the day. The NPR station seems to be a bit liberal, but, very interesting at times. The topic of gun control comes up from time, but,it seems as though the conversation is stacked evenly with the pros and cons.

    Am I wrong?

    1. It's NPR.
    2. It's NPR.

Remember, it was NPR back in the early '90s that ran a week long series on the 2nd Amendment, in which their "pro-gun" spokesman was a shotgunner who said he'd NEVER own a handgun, wanted them banned, and who said that if really pressed, he'd be willing to give up his SHOTGUNS.

Remember too, it was an interviewer from NPR who during Waco, asked the editor of "Soldier of Fortune" magazine if he thought that the Branch Davidians could have NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

I haven't heard Diane Rehm since I was out of work, but any vague recollections I might have regarding her attitudes on guns were strictly anti.

NPR tends towards a statist position on RKBA, even though they trend ACLU on all other rights. They are not balanced, but they are not as unbalanced as say MSNBC or Hannity/O'Reilley.

I find Rehm, both the woman and the show, difficult to listen to and tune out quickly. Googling "diane rehm gun control" yields plenty of hits. A brief look at the comments from listeners provides a lot of heat, not much light.

She sounds like she is just a little over one hundred yrs old when she is talking. I didnt get a chance to listen to what she was saying today. However,I am sure it was something extremely liberal. I will continue to try and catch a segment dealing with guns. When the theater shooter was big in the news gun control was a big topic with her.

    Ahhh Diane.

    The poster child for Prozac.

She usually doesn't take a position herself.
    She lets her guests talk.
But the questions and guests are pretty much lefty's.

    I'd say that's fair, AFS.

I seldom listen to her unless I am on a mid-day business road trip. And even then I often find something else. However NPR is my usual radio news default because their coverage is much broader than the commercial stations.

It sounds like Diane is no Terry Gross.Terry's job is to take a position. Love that breathy, sexy voice!

Nobody does a better interview, albeit batting mainly from the left side.

NPR and Public Television are shills for the left -- in fact, Johnson invented Public Television to propagandize his "Great Society."

So I was listening to NPR today. One of the programs (maybe fresh air) had the gun subject on the menu today. Of course they had a hoplaphobe on there that was throwing around the usual loaded stats. Even when callers or people emailing in questions would try to debunk the bogus stats the guest would blow smoke and use tricky language to make the naive buy into it.

She has a voice problem, that has sometimes in the past led to her taking a break from the program.

    Yes.

I have a fond memory from about 10 years ago, when she had on Suzanne Gratia-Hupp, I think Larry Pratt, and a couple state level gun rights guys. She was pretty flustered by the end of it.

The transcript of that Talk Of The Nation segment is here. I listened as best I could driving through marginal reception areas. The transcript just makes it worse.

Yeah Chuck, that does seem even worse than it was when I listened to it. All the stats and scenarios are loaded and spun. They are assuming that less people own guns now because they wont share that info with them.

They are also trying to act as if the people are wanting more gun control over that Aurora shooting when actually the amount of cc permits went through the roof the following week. The people are wanting equal force to meet the perps with instead of having to be a victim. That substitute host (Tom something) is usually bringing up anti gun propaganda whenever he sits in also.

The callers calling in and asking questions as if they are trying to form an opinion are just getting waxed with the BS. That was the worst thing that was running through my head when I was listening to it. Sadly they were walking away with the wrong impression from what the host and guests were telling them. I just wanted to explode it was making me so mad.

I appreciate NPR. Their propaganda is more artful and refined than the others'.
