Seen on National Geographic "L.A. Gang Wars"

Watching one of the 'scare white people' shows on National Geographic. One of the fine young men they are documenting had an interesting weapon.

    It had:
    - bullpup stock
    - AR-15 ish grip canted to the right
    - They said it shot .223, appeared to have ar-15ish magazines
    - The stock/receiver was rather blocky

    Anyone know what this is?

Original Bushmaster pistol. Wonder where he found that?

A man by the name of "Poo" of the "Grape Street Crips" in East LA (maybe Compton) has one he would probably sell you.

I like how he's customized it by removing the trigger guard.

Are you guys kidding me? I thought that was a made up prop gun for this show.

EDIT: For those like me that don't know that much about guns here is a link.

Nope, not made up, rare and valuable, and I doubt this gangbanger had his handed down by his daddy. I'd bet that one's been on the lam for a while.

My questions about the show's validity.

What would any entertainment company lawyer insist on? Model release form? Contract of some sort and a W2 for the IRS would be mandatory I would think.

Would the insurance company allow real guns with ammunition? (Recall that soap actor that killed himself with a gun loaded with blanks? Circa 80's?) Security guards must have been there.

Would a real gang banger show his stash only to have it used against him in court? Don't think they were that stupid. What did his lawyer advise? Did he also have an agent?

Union dues paid? My understanding anyone in front of the camera has to be a member.

The more I think about it, wouldn't the owner have complained far and wide about its theft? I would be screaming at National Geo for the name and address on the model release form they must have had him sign.

And where is the BATFE on this? Are criminals exempt? 1st amendment doesn't allow for the cover up of crime.

Which leads me to think these are actors that happen to be Crips at best. And if that gun is real there is someone off camera with the tax stamp or whatever paperwork is required.

Jesse what the heck are you on about? It was a documentary.

Nat Geo showed up with a camera and asked questions and filmed what they saw. That doesn't require any sort of release or wavier.

If any LEO saw it and wanted to press charges against the Crips for felon-in-posession or lack of permit they'd be able to do so. Has nothing to do with releases or filming exemptions or anything.

Hi everyone. New to the forum and I am not into guns at all but saw this special on national geo. I just saw national geo special on street racing tonight. Pooh who was in the gang show was in street racing as well listed as a mechanic! Unless he is a gang banger and street racer then they are actors.

^^ What actor? What script? I thought that "Reality Show" was a way of end-running both the screen actors guild AND the screen writers' guild.

Photo of the Bushmaster Gwinn .223 Pistol (that's an oldie).
    http://securityarms.com/20010315/gal.../2400/2474.htm

Bushmaster Arm Pistol, Gwinn Firearms, Bangor Maine, ~1972.

    Here's a listing with photos: http://www.gunsinternational.com/Gwi...n_id=100205165

Specimens offered for sale on collectors' market run 1,000 to 1,800 depending on condition. Supposed to be based on the Colt IMP prototype for a USAF survival weapon. It's a bullpup pistol, 12inch barrel, semi-auto uses AR15/M16 magazines. You hold the grip in your hand and lay the action up against your forearm: Arm Pistol. I had forgotten about it. Odd I cannot forget the Dardick and the Gyrojet.
