Trijicon SRS vs. EOTech EXPS2 series

Got a couple of new 22 ARs (S&W 15-22 and Colt, made by Walther) and went a little batty with accessories to play with (with an eye towards moving stuff I like to the big ARs down the road).

Stuck an EOTech EXPS2-0 on the 15-22 since it's the lightweight.
Stuck a Trijicon SRS on the Colt, since it's already heavier / all metal.

I guess everyone knows about EOTechs?

Here are my impressions on the Trijicon SRS with about an hour's worth of fondling time with it:

VERY unimpressed - to me it looks like it's not quite ready for prime time - guess you can't believe all those glowing reports on the 'Net these days, eh?

    1. The Bobro QR mount must have been made for a left-hander?

    2. No problem, I'll just take it off and rotate 180 degrees...NOT! They've offset the mounting screw holes on the SRS - ain't going to be no rotating the QR mount!

    3. GLARE! Whyzzit my EOTechs have very little glare (I hear the glass is polarized?), but the SRS is not only a glare magnet, but the front lens when viewed from the business end of the muzzle looks like it would be a target magnet! It not only has glare (which I guess is partially rectified by the lens tilting back at an angle), but the darn lens is RED - I'd think it would stand out like a sore thumb in a sea of foliage!? Iff'n I was an operator, I'd HAVE to have the ridiculously priced Killflash on it, but I hear that kind of screws up the view / dot?

    4. AA battery - no biggie, but I'd have preferred a smaller, shorter CR123.

    5. Weight - it ain't no flyweight - I'm guessing most of the weight is the glass?

    6. Solar Cell - I'd just as soon have it without the solar cell?

    7. Pushbuttons - much harder to operate than an EOTech - good or bad? Bad if you want to make a quick adjustment (you really have to push, and little / no tactile feedback), but I guess you could view the difficulty as a plus AFA not accidentally knocking your setting out of whack?

    8. No auto off - good or bad? Bad if you forget to turn it off (my EOTech has either an 8 or 4 hour auto-off function), but if you're an operator, you probably wouldn't want it to turn off automatically?

    9. When you turn the dot up to higher levels, it blooms (to be expected), BUT you have all kinds of circular artifacts surrounding the do in view! Not enough to obscure, but why can't you design something that shows the dot ONLY?

Oh well...I've got 15 days to decide - I may just send it back and try to locate an inexpensive scope to play with, or I might end up with one of the nicer Leupold's I saw at the shop the other day?

    Awwww...don't make me take pictures!

Just got through hanging out the bedroom window and using the laser boresighter at a building 100 yds from the house (have to do this late at night so's I don't freak out the neighbors).

At least I've got both of 'em boresighted in - going to try to make it to the range within a week or so to get 'em dialed in.

Still waiting on junk to trickle in - darn things are going to look like one o' them Detroit test mules with all the junk hanging off it 'til I can decide what I like, don't like, etc.

I'll try to post a few pix within the next few days.

Trijicon SRS vs. EOTech EXPS2 series

My favorite is Trijicon. The trijicon scope with Acog technology delivers the sensational viewing.
